The orchid's substances might be helpful for treating infections caused by these bacteria. |

Bletilla ochracea, known as Duosui lan in China and Kakina in Orissa, India, is a widely found orchid species across southern Yunnan, Indochina, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Sri Lanka, Africa, and tropical and subtropical America. In traditional medicine, the tuber of Bletilla ochracea is used by tribes in the Niyamgiri Hills of Orissa to treat arthritis. The tuber is boiled and consumed with honey twice daily on an empty stomach. The orchid's flowers emit a jasmine-like fragrance attributed to compounds like methyl anthranilate and indole, along with a lime blossom scent from nerolidol, dihydrofarnesol, and farnesol, enhancing its appeal. |

The orchid known as Humari, or Golden Yellow Habenaria, blooms from July to November in different regions. It's a small plant found across Pakistan, northern India, Orissa, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Thailand. In traditional medicine, it's used to treat malignant ulcers in places like the Niyamgiri Hills in Orissa and Bangladesh. In Sanjay National Park, its tubers are cooked and eaten as a vegetable. |
