Chinese names: Luhuakuorui Lan (green flower broad pistil orchid), Yuanjukuorui Lan (round distance broad pistil orchid), Banyeyufeng Lan (spotted leaf jade phoenix orchid), Banyekuorui Lan (spotted leaf broad pistil orchid) Chinese medicinal name: Shanshajiang Peristylus goodyeroides (D. Don) Lindl. is an orchid species known by various Chinese names, including Luhuakuorui Lan, Yuanjukuorui Lan, Banyeyufeng Lan, and Banyekuorui Lan. In Chinese traditional medicine, it is referred to as Shanshajiang. This medium-sized herb has oblong-ovoid tubers and flowers during different months in various regions, such as May to June in Thailand, July to August in China, August in India, and December in Tamil Nadu. The herb made from the root of Peristylus goodyeroides is used in herbal medicine to remove toxins from swelling. It can be prepared as a decoction using 6-15 grams of the herb. Additionally, the fresh herb can be pulverized and used externally. The tubers of this orchid are also utilized as a tonic in traditional Indian medicine. |
