38- What You Need to Know to Wear Your Perfume Like an Expert

37- The Psychology of Choosing the Perfect Scent for Your Home
Perfumes are delicate and required much care. Therefore, it is important to understand what requirements and precautions you would need to take when you have one.
The guidelines below would help you to know what you should and should not do to your perfumes and how to best apply it on yourself.

Spray Your Perfumes, Don’t Rub Them
Use the option of spraying instead of rubbing your perfume on your skin. Perfumes are sensitive creatures, especially to heat. The heat sensitive aromatic compounds of perfumes and also its volatile alcohol solvent which evaporates faster with heat are all factors and reasons why you should not rub your perfumes.

The action of rubbing perfume on your wrist causes abrasion and this friction between the two wrist produces heat which not only accelerates the evaporation of the perfume but also causes some degradation of the aromatic compound, which possibly changing the fragrance original scent.
If you decide to spray the perfume on your body, omit the action of rubbing will help to make the fragrance strength and profile last longer.

Weather Temperature
Since perfumes are made to be dispersive, depending on the weather temperature of your country, it is great to apply on areas that are allows this dispersive functionality to reach its optimum capability and allowing the fragrance to be exuded and carried by the breeze easily as you walk.
In countries with cold seasons and temperatures, application of your perfumes behind your ears, necks and wrist could be a good option.

However, if you live in tropical regions or are currently experiencing the hot summer season, then application to areas behind your ears, necks and wrist are body parts that most easily heats up may not be a good idea. This is because not only will the perspiration wash away the fragrance you put on, but the heat from the weather can cause the fragrance profile and strength to be sapped away.
Therefore, during summer seasons or when the weather is hot, spraying on your clothes is a better option than on your skin if you want the fragrance to last longer and also be dispersive enough to allow the fragrance to be released as you walk.

Storage Factor
Before you buy a perfume, you must be prepared to have a cool, dry and dark/shady place to store your perfume.
As much as possible, try not to expose your perfume to sunlight as the UV rays and heat can damage the fragrance composition causing unwanted changes to the fragrance profile. The darker the bottle of the perfume bottle the better it can help to act as an extra protective layer to cover the perfume content from sunlight.

Also, do not also store it in the toilet, as the room is humid and the steam and accumulation of water vapor in the air can cause break down of the chemical compounds of the perfume as well.

In Short,
Remember that perfumes are heat sensitive, so do ensure you have a good storage environment for them, preferably in a cool, dry and dark environment. Also, make sure that you consider the weather temperature in correspond to the places or body parts you wish to apply your perfume.
