Prioritizing Work at Your Workplace

Ever heard similar sentences such as, “I am too busy to meet up, do this, or try that.” From your friends or even yourself, especially the ones that are working?
There are even times where we even feel guilty of not spending our time as wisely as we had planned to for our future goals.
However, let’s not dwell on the time that has past and focus on re-evaluating the root cause of the lost time and how we are going to readjust our time schedule later on.
 

Identify Task Significance Level 
The first step before actually diving into the task, is to organize your thoughts, and rank the urgency and importance level of each task to do.
The more urgent task that has a coming due date will have to be placed of a higher rank than the important but not as urgent assignments.
This is to ensure a punctual completion of your dedicated tasks in a more organized manner.
 ​

Recognize the Task Benefits 

Completed tasks, can give values or benefits to you, be it in the short or long term, once you.
Take time to figure out the value of each task you are going to do each day, and from day you can allocate how much time, effort, and energy you want to invest in it, base on how close the value of the task is to the goal you want to achieve.
This helps you to sort out the time you want to invest in each task base on its closeness to the goal or objective you have set.
Do note that the benefits of certain tasks may only be reaped in the future, over a long period of time, but by investing time in these tasks, we are formulating and going steps closer to our drams and goals.
 ​

Decrease Unproductive Times 

There will be days or hours where we just want to do nothing despite having work or assignments on hand to complete – giving rise to our modern art of Procrastination or Unproductivity.
There are also many occasions on days outside of work, where we do not plan out our time spent, which highly likely can lead to spending it unproductively as well. This causes a lot of valuable time spent of small wasteful unproductive times.
Accumulating these unproductive times, we could have used it to accomplish so much other activities that drives us to our ultimate goals.
Therefore, by intentionally scheduling and organizing your time line for each day, you can limit as much unproductive time as possible which could be used to be invested into your learnings for your work goals or the future.
 ​

Knowing your Task Purpose 
This is a defining step to help to know how to be clearer understanding of what you will achieve by completing the task.
For example, the purpose behind cleaning up your work desk, could help you work in a more conducive environment which will speed up your productivity, and ultimately give you more time to do other important things.
Knowing a clear purpose for your goals are important guides and motivation for you to drive yourself to the goal with rational and appealing reasons (purpose) that are important to you.
 

Finally,

We all live in a world of endless amount of work, but what we can do is filter out the time and invest them in things that are important to us (our life goals, our love ones, our principles and values).
More often than not, when we feel stuck in one place or limited because of our current circumstance or abilities, it is not due to a one-off decision but the result of our accumulated choices that we have made.
Therefore, if you want to do something, learn something new and have more time with your love ones now, do not wait as that itself is a choice made!
