53 - Debunked Perfumes Myths

53 - Debunked Perfumes Myths
Being able to distinguish the fallacies among the facts is very useful in not helping you to find the perfect perfume application method to effectively keep your perfume’s long lastingness but also how to store it to maintain its fragrance quality.
So, let’s check out what are some of the common misconceptions people may have towards perfumes and help you to understand perfumes better!

#1 Fragrance Profile Smell the Same on Skin & Smelling StripsEvery individual will have their own unique skin odor. This odor difference can be due to factors such as genetics, diet and also the type of bacteria living on your skin.
Therefore, what’s more if it is comparing the fragrance that mixes with your skin odor, upon contact with your skin, with that of odorless smelling strips.
If you are intending to purchase the perfume and apply it on your skin, you should ensure that you are satisfied with the fragrance that is in contact with your skin before you make the decision to buy it.

#2 Quality of Perfume is Always Proportional to its Price
This is a very common misconceptions as advertisements of branded perfumes always display these perfumes in fanciful and classy perfume packaging.
However, more often than not, some of the branded perfumes quality can actually be comparable to other perfumes that are of a more affordable price.
Then what makes perfumes so expensive? Firstly, it can due to the branding. The high-end brands typically market their perfumes as luxury products, thus, making you pay higher for how they brand it. Secondly, it could be due to the labor cost to hire experts to formulate the perfume creation. Thirdly, it could be the fragrance ingredient cost. The more labor intensive to source for the ingredient, the more costly the ingredient will be.
Therefore, these factors can be the reasons why you are paying for what you are paying, making up the general price of perfumes.

#3 Rubbing Can Extend Perfume’s Long-lastingness
The perfumes are made volatile for is dispersive function to help us smell better. However, this volatility is influenced by heat. Therefore, the greater exposure to heat, the higher likelihood of it being evaporated faster, losing its long lastingness.
The act of rubbing the perfume, creates abrasion between two surfaces thus, enhancing the heat. Hence, making the perfume evaporate more easily with heat.

#4 The Fragrance Profile Will Remain the Same throughout the DayPerfumes encompasses Top, Middle, and Base notes to ensure a well-balanced formula. The Top notes has the highest volatility (evaporates in the first few minutes), followed by Middle notes and lastly the Base notes.
Therefore, over time, fragrances profile can change despite whether you have been wearing it in a cold and air-conditioned room or under the hot summer weather.
Therefore, it is recommended when you are in search for a perfume to purchase, decide after spraying and letting the fragrance to set in for around 30minutes before deciding if this fragrance profile is something you like, and buy it.

#5 Perfumes have no Expiry DatesEverything has their life span, even diamonds that is known to be the hardest and strongest material on earth degrades over time.
What’s more, perfumes are light, humidity and heat sensitive, hence it would definitely degrade over time. Generally, perfumes can last 2-3 years if stored with care. If you are in doubt of how long your perfume’s life span is, you can check with the staff that sells it.

Finally,I hope some of the misconceptions have been cleared, and the information have helped you attained better understanding of perfumes to make a worthier and better your perfume selection in your next purchase!
